Night of 100 Elvises
Baltimore, MD 2005

They say that when the Vegas Valentinos come to town it means that the party is just getting started. Take it from me, that is an understatement. For the second straight year this group of Italian half brothers scored big at the Rockabilly Hall of Fame Induction show in Jackson Tennessee. There is nothing close to shy about this band and they showed it again. With a combination of great original songs, incredible stage presence and raw talent they took over the stage at the Carl Perkins Civic Center. This is a show that never stops. In fact it doesn’t even slow down.

The boys opened up with Scotty singing a rocking version of the tune “30 Days”. That number featured some high kicking choreography and hot guitar work. That little ditty was followed up with an original tune “Love is on the Way” sung by Blind Bob and then Little Richard’s “Some Fun Tonight” by Johnny “The Inferno” Tropicana. Both songs were well received. The additional voices showed the depth of talent that this band commands.

The show stopper of the night was reserved for the legendary voice of Scotty “Two Times” Casino. The moving “American Icon” was written out of the emotions that the band felt during a recent trip to Graceland. Scotty and the boys were at their best on this heartfelt number. The large crowd, obviously moved by the performance, showed their appreciation with one of many major standing ovations that night.

The band then finished out the set with songs from the three CDs they have released to date. All were well received. The Valentinos left the stage to the thunderous applause of about 5000 raucous fans screaming for more.

The boys moved on to Memphis after the show to record their next full length CD at Sun records. The project is tentatively called “The five and dime quartet” after the famous “Million Dollar Quartet” photo of Elvis, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis that hung in the background while the band recorded. “Those guys are a big part of the reason we got into this business in the first place” said Blind Bob. “It’s a privilege to be recording in the same place that they did. It feels like they are there in room with you while you work. We figured that if they were only worth a million then five and ten cents is about right for us”. The project is being produced by music industry greats James Lott and Billy Swan and is due for a spring 2006 release.
